A Shriner is a man who professes a faith in God. As a man of faith, he uses the tools of moral and Ethical truths to serve mankind. A Shriner binds himself to like-minded men in a Brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethical, social, cultural, and educational differences. In fellowship, with his brothers, a Shriner finds ways in which to serve his God, his family, his fellow man, and his country. A Shriner is dedicated. He recognizes his responsibility for justice, truth, charity, enlightenment, freedom and liberty, honesty and integrity in all aspects of human endeavor. A Shriner is such a man!! WHAT’S A FEZ? Ben Hur Shriners is a part of, a fraternity that was founded in 1870. We are a fraternity of men dedicated to brotherhood, fun, and philanthropic activities. One of the most iconic symbols of our fraternity is the fez. Worn by members of Ben Hue Shriners, the fez is a red felt hat that is adorned with a black tassel and scimitar logo. It was chosen as our symbol by our founder. The fez is a symbol of our commitment to our international brotherhood and philanthropy. It stands out in a crowd and has become a well known symbol that represents a true Shriner. Contact Us Shriners International WHY SCIMITAR LOGO? The scimitar stands for the backbone of the fraternity, its members. The two claws are for the Shriners fraternity and its philanthropy. The sphinx stands for the governing body of the Shriners. The five-pointed star represents the thousands of children helped by the philanthropy each year. The emblem also bears the phrase “Robur et Furor,” which means “Strength and Fury.”

    Shriners can pay their Membership Dues online. A Shrine ID Number and Member Number will be needed to verify the Shriner. All payments received after 7:00 PM ET may be processed the following business day. Weekend/Holiday payments will be processed the next business day. Major Credit Cards Accepted are P er-capita increase passes at Imperial Session Per Capita will increase by $20 effective August 1, 2023. August 1st is the day each year when dues and assessments are posted. All dues and assessments for 2025 should be paid prior to the end of 2024. Per Capita is now $50 per year, an increase of $20. If you wish to become a Life Per Capita Member, you have the option of making a one-time payment that is 30 times the Per Capita Rate. (30 x $50.00 = $1500) Full Life Member varies according to age. And, in the 1930s Ben Hur started the publication of a newsletter and named it “The Chariot”. The Chariot was published periodically until after World War II and starting in 1947, The Chariot was published monthly as Ben Hur’s method of communication. While electronic communications are changing how The Chariot is received by the Nobility, The Chariot continues to be the official communication method.

    < Back Ricki Pierce Oriental Guide 2026 Ricki Pierce is a member of the Board of Directors of Ben Hur Shriners. He has been a member of Ben Hur since 1991, is active in the Directors Staff, Trailblazers, Charioteers & Golf Units, also the Motorcycle Club and served as President of the Directors Staff in 2025. He was also a member of Ararat Shriners in Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised in T. Neal Porter Lodge No. 1354 in Austin, Texas in 1978. He is currently a member of Liberty Hill Lodge No. 432 in Liberty Hill, Texas. Ricki was born in Bay City, Texas. He attended David Crockett HS in Austin and The University of Texas in Austin earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He served in the United States Marine Corps 22 yrs attaining the rank of Master Sergeant, retiring 1998. He is married to Donna Prade, and they currently reside in Belton, Texas. TBD TBD
