We’re a social and service-driven crew known for our strong camaraderie, love of the grill, and commitment to supporting the Shrine through action—not just words. From hosting the unforgettable 2nd Section of ceremonial events to firing up the pit for BBQs, fish fries, and community cookouts, we bring flavor and fun to everything we do. Whether we’re assisting the Potentate, supporting hospital benefit drives, or throwing great events at the Shrine Center, we do it with heart, humor, and a cold drink nearby. The Shrine Patient Transportation Fund is an arm of Shriners Hospitals for Children that was set up as a program to provide for the transportation of patients to and from their appointments. Patient Transportation Fund Donate to Transportation The Shrine Patient Transportation Fund is an arm of Shriners Hospitals for Children that was set up as a program to provide for the transportation of patients to and from their appointments. As they say, what good is a hospital if we can’t get them there? When the parent of a patient reaches out to us requesting travel reimbursement, we reimburse them based on the current IRS standard mileage rate for travel for medical purposes. If the patient needs air travel or any other form of transportation (train, bus, etc.), we purchase the ticket on their behalf and closely work with them to ensure an itinerary that best suits the needs of all parties. If an overnight stay is required, oftentimes there is a local Ronald McDonald house in the nearby area in which the family can seek lodging for the evening. If there are no Ronald McDonald houses nearby, or if they are filled to capacity for the evening, we have a list of nearby hotels in each area in which we can seek accommodations for our families. All of the contributions made to our Patient Transportation Fund are managed under the same 501(c)(3) number as our hospitals and the Shrine centers are allowed to manage these funds under the guidance of SHC. The Patient Transportation Fund is an entirely separate account from our Shrine Center funds and we must report on a regular basis to Shriners Hospitals for Children. And, in the 1930s Ben Hur started the publication of a newsletter and named it “The Chariot”. The Chariot was published periodically until after World War II and starting in 1947, The Chariot was published monthly as Ben Hur’s method of communication. While electronic communications are changing how The Chariot is received by the Nobility, The Chariot continues to be the official communication method.

< Back Ricki Pierce High Priest and Prophet 2026 Ricki Pierce is a member of the Board of Directors of Ben Hur Shriners. He has been a member of Ben Hur since 1991, is active in the Directors Staff, Trailblazers, Charioteers & Golf Units, also the Motorcycle Club and served as President of the Directors Staff in 2025. He was also a member of Ararat Shriners in Kansas City, Missouri. He was raised in T. Neal Porter Lodge No. 1354 in Austin, Texas in 1978. He is currently a member of Liberty Hill Lodge No. 432 in Liberty Hill, Texas. Ricki was born in Bay City, Texas. He attended David Crockett HS in Austin and The University of Texas in Austin earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He served in the United States Marine Corps 22 yrs attaining the rank of Master Sergeant, retiring 1998. He is married to Donna Prade, and they currently reside in Belton, Texas. TBD TBD
