About the Ben Hur Golf Unit:
The Ben Hur Golf Unit was organized in 1967 with 10 charter members, three of whom are still active. Membership in the Unit is made up of regular members, social members and honorary members but voting privileges are limited to regular members. Social and Honorary members are usually Shriners who belong to other Units but enjoy good fellowship and the game of golf.

Regular Unit meetings are held quarterly at the Shrine. A stag social night is held once each month. Tournaments are held locally at municipal courses and country clubs once each month, March through December. They are arranged by the Unit Tournament Chairman who calculates and maintains handicaps for all members, calculates prize winners and distributes prizes. Special tournaments are held at the Annual State convention and at the Golf Association mid-winter meeting which is held in various cities in Texas.

A central Texas tournament is arranged annually by the Ben Hur Golf Unit and is participated in by Golf units from the other Texas Shrine Temples.

Members of the Golf Unit participate in all other Temple functions including the Circus, the Hospital Drive, and the many parades held in central Texas.

The Ben Hur Golf Unit provides a lot of healthful fun for golfers. Skill at playing the game ranges from mighty good to down right awful, but with accurate handicaps even the hacker has a chance to shine on occasion. If you enjoy the game, come join us for an outing or two and then decide if you want to be a Ben Hur Golfer.

Initiation fee to join the Golf Unit is $40.00 and annual dues are $30.00.
